Metroplex records owner, electronic funk pioneer & godfather of techno (known as the originator), Juan Atkins is one of the most influential figures in electronic & dance music. Founder of the "techno" term to baptize his music, recording since 1979 & releasing records since 1981 as Cybotron (with Rick Davies), Channel One (with Doug Craig), Model 500 and Infiniti, he first gained success in Detroit & Chicago with tracks like "Alleys Of Your Mind", "Clear" & "No Ufos". Atkins influenced Derrick May & Kevin Saunderson, collaborated with them (in production & djing) and the three became known as the "The Belleville Three". Them with Eddie Fowlkes & Blake Baxter are the first wave of Detroit Techno producers. In 1988 Juan became widely known in Europe through a compilation which was released by "10 Records". The LP was about to come out with the title "House! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit" but due to Juan's track "Techno City" the label released it as "Techno! The New Dance Sound Of Detroit". The term spread all over the world... His music has been released through Metroplex, Transmat, OM Records, NovaMute, R&S and Tresor amongst others.
