This week history was made by the likes of Tony Bennett, Mariah Carey and Jimi Hendrix plus we celebrate AC/DC's Brian Johnson and Stevie Ray Vaughan's birthdays!

September 30 1995, Mariah Carey made chart history when she began an eight week stay at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Fantasy.' Mariah was the first female act to enter the chart at No. 1.

October 1 1950 "Sing You Sinners" by a 24 year old singer named Tony Bennett is released.

October 2 1928: The first major label recordings in Nashville take place as DeFord Bailey lays down eight tracks at Victor Records (which later became RCA) Studios.

October 3 1954, Born on this day, blues/rock titan Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stevie is one of the most influential guitarists who ever lived.

October 4 1958 - British Overseas Airways Corporation becomes the first jetliner to offer trans-Atlantic service to passengers with flights between London, England and New York. This sets the stage for the British Invasion of the '60s. The '60s wouldn't have happened as suddenly if all the British bands came over by boat.
