Hello, I'm Shira [Sign Name: S-5 on side of forehead]. Alison shared her miracle story and I thought it was a cool concept. I have one and it is one that I do not remember but am sharing by way of my parents. I was born hearing and became deaf at age 2-3. At that time, of course, my parents were at loss for what to do. They decided to go into the oralism track but after some time, it did not make sense to them. At the same time, my father went to a Bonnie Raitt concert with me in his arms. There was a sign language interpreter there which enthralled my father. After the concert, he went up to the interpreter and held me up and said, "Teach her." That person went on to teach me and my family sign language. Soon after that, I woke up one morning and ran up to my mother and signed, "Last night I had a dream!..." Therein lies the miracle: I was able to sign and express to my mother my dream. Also, that the singer had an interpreter shows that you never know whose lives you'll impact...
