Theremin Performance by Dorit Chrysler at Moogfest 2011 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 29, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Dorit Chrysler is one of the few names that should follow any mention of the theremin. She is founder of the New York Theremin Society; frequently performs with mainstream artists such as Dinosaur Jr., Marilyn Manson, the Strokes, and Amon Tobin; and, quite simply, she is a master of the instrument. She gave a demo for the audience during the Moogaplex panel discussion, "Journey to the Center of the Theremin."

The Moogaplex is an interactive exhibit space at Moogfest where festival attendees can play & experiment with many variations of Moog instruments. Moog even brought out the rarely seen Polyphonic Theremin, which features 5 pitch antennas, creating sound spaces where the player can control up to 5 different timbres at once. Moog fans might remember Chrysler's April Fool's demo from just a few months ago. If you missed it, check it out at the bottom of this page for her "Stairway to Heaven" rendition http://vimeo.com/21804063). Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

This performance was captured at The Moogaplex in Asheville NC, Sunday, October 30 2011, on the third and final day of Moogfest by The Tuned Inn.
