Not all of this mix is what you could call "Detroit Techno". It is a tribute to the innovative spirit of Detroit, not a compilation of vintage Detroit style Techno. That's why i called it "classic" . Does Detroit Techno even exist ? It's more of a spirit than anything else. Typical Detroit Techno sounds can be found among the artists who were there right from the beginning, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, etc... They were inspired by each other, House music or Euro beat. That typical futuristic minimal tribal groove they created many years ago is still fresh today, this is not always the case with a lot of House and trance sounds made in those same years...

For this mix i used Atomix mp3 software. The difficult part for me was mixing on my lap top with only hand and mouse. The art of mixing is not only about how you mix though, it is about what you mix, meaning the music... One can always regret a certain sound quality but music is music and in the end no matter what technique you used it will be that final listening pleasure that will count the most. You can mix on crappy equipment, you can mix vinyl or digital and you can even program your robot to mix for you... If you don't choose the right music what will be the result ?...
