DC Fontana sing Ennio Morricone!
The classic 'Se Telefonando' is resculpted by the highly respected British band with vocals provided by the magnificent Italian singer Kicca Andriollo.
Andriollo flew in to Liverpool from Paris to record the vocals with the band at Parr Street Studios and the song was released as part of their 'La Contessa' collection on DCTone in 2011.
As with other DC Fontana records, 'Se Telefonando' was produced by Donald Ross Skinner, the one-time Julian Cope guitarist and producer.
DC Fontana's version adds their own completely original outro arrangement as well as lysergic guitars that blend beautifully with the doom-laden sophistication of a droning cello, bottom-heavy trombone and saxes and operatic backing vocals from Merseyside soprano Rachel Ashton.
Beautiful horns that are faithful to Morricone's original score add a delightful echo back to the 60s Euro-pop ye-ye sheen that pervades 'La Contessa' while Andriollo's partner, Oscar Marchioni and Skinner provide soul-rubbing piano lines.
The main theme of the song itself is based around three main notes which Morricone heard from a police siren in Marseille
