Bill Stewart Revisited - Stick Shot Lick, Dark Blue Groove, Everybody's Party Solo - Video

DESCRIPTION:
As a little thank you to all who have subscribed and watched my videos, I have uploaded a new video expanding on my first one dedicated to Bill Stewart. The first video, to this point, (March 8th, 2013) is my most watched and commented on by far!

The first clip demonstrates a lick that he often uses in solos and trading. In order to play it cleanly, you must have a slightly tighter grip on the left stick to press the stick into the head for the non-stick shot notes. The second clip shows the lick at a slower tempo. The third involves trading 4's using the lick.

The second part of the video is a groove that Bill played on a John Scofield tune called 'Dark Blue', from his 'Hand Jive' album. It is a great groove and an awesome tune, so be sure to check it out!

In the final part, I am playing a transcription I did of Bill's solo from the John Scofield tune 'Everybody's Party', from the excellent 'I Can See Your House From Here' album. This solo definitely has some distinct Bill Stewart ideas including over-the-barline phrasing, a sharp melodic focus, and some polyrhythmic sections.

Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement. It is truly appreciated.
