Here's the third single off of our upcoming record 'Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora', slated for release via Southern Lord Records on March 10th. For more information regarding this recording, please peruse the video description for "Knife in the Safe Room".

This tune began life in the jam space and was composed closer to the tail end of our pre-production sessions. I can't remember how the drum intro materialized, but I dig how the snare placement (possibly) deceives the listener into thinking they're on the downbeats. When the groove breaks down in the verses, the 16th hats are played entirely 'shanked' with the left hand; not too difficult but the dynamics are massively important and effective. This almost didn't make the record and I told the guys they'd be crazy to pass on it!

Notes:
0:08, 0:18 - last crash before I move to right hats is accented extra-hard
0:26 - 0:41, 2:41 - 2:51 - cymbal orchestration complements guitar
0:57, 1:36 - extra-hard hat accent on 'ah' of 4
3:06 - cymbal orchestration complements guitar
3:27 - 3:37 - brief cymbal theme emerges, yet snare ghosts are retained
