Nothing Personal (Don Grolnick) Steve Giordano Quartet - Video
PUBLISHED: Nov 27, 2013
DESCRIPTION: My quartet has been a staple in my musical development for two and a half decades. My affiliation with the great trumpeter Bob Meashey has led to the development and sophistication of interactive/symbiotic playing. The quartet is my catalyst in realizing my original compositions as well as unique arrangements of "jazz" standards.
I will be putting up a few quartet performances from recent concerts which I call "Pocket Concerts" that take place through Groupon at my home. I can only hold a small number of people but those lucky enough to attend get to hear creative jazz upfront and personal. This is a very satisfying venue for us as well since the audience geared for serious listening rather than fighting the noise level at "jazz" clubs/bars/restaurants. We opened the night with a Don Grolnick composition called "Nothing Personal" which is basically an elongated minor blues. The Quartet: Bob Meashey - trumpet/flugle horn Bill Zino - bass Joe Mullen - drums Steve Giordano - guitar
