Yolk was a jam band from Binghamton, New York. "Caution: Social Prescriptions May Cause Side-Effects, Yolk's second album, contains far more depth than their self-released debut. In terms of production, instruments are brighter in the mix, more separated. There is more emphasis on polished musicianship here, such as bassist Jim Lomanaco's Primus-like intro to "Soulstorm," the precise percussion of the disc opening "Propeller," or the Mr. Bungle-like circus music of Dregs. The political funk is still apparent in force, as well, though the accompaniment and vocal delivery is more thoughtful. Jimmy John McCabe's powerful vocals still sound as if they could be lifted from a grunge record, but that's mostly okay in the light of the music. The band's fusion of styles is distinct, though stretched a little thin on this disc." (Jesse Jarnow, allmusic.com)
