...the song is the fourth to be released by “DeBourge & Couts” which is a collaboration between Andrew Couts and Martin DeBourge. Special guest guitarist on this track is Tony Massaro of Torman Maxt.
“The Sink” is a song inspired by a documentary I saw called "The Phase" in which a lucid dreamer is shown how to enter that state of slumber. The references are directly my own experiences, including "the sink" which always appears in "my room" - the symbolism to a "sink" where i fall into dream state is of course intentional.
At the end of the song, I struggled with lyrical content for several days - and then one night found myself singing the lines to a popular System of a Down song.... it just worked, so I kept it.
LYRICS:
A floating precipice - high up in the sky
How it got here, I don't know
But I find myself climbing higher
until
I reach a branch to help me up
I sit upon a tiled floor
I still look around to make sure, I am alone
Again the sink is the only thing here
If I'm honest there's a tinge of fear
But I've grown used to it, being here
It's always here
Lotus Skies - I close my eyes - I see it all
And now I fall
The sink
Wake up, grab a brush, put a little make up
hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table
Here you go, create another fable
You wanted to
