DAVID MORRIS & THE BIG SHEAR with TIM FINCH & DICK BECKLEY - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 01, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Bluegrass Today correspondent and songwriter David Morris promised to shave his head if anyone made a donation of $500 to good friend and fellow musician John Miller's cancer relief fund. John Miller is now completing the last of his treatments for tongue and throat cancer. Given David's lively reputation and great respect across the Bluegrass community, that pledge came in within minutes of the announcement. David is known for his grand sense of humour. The shearing took place at 2 p.m. on September 28 at the Eastman Handcrafted Guitars & Mandolin Exhibit during the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) 2013 World of Bluegrass convention. It was held in Raleigh, North Carolina. David's friend Tim Finch, an Eastman representative and fellow Bluegrass bon vivant, offered to be the super shearer, and to donate an E-10D guitar to the fundraising effort. Everyone who donated to the relief fund was entered in the drawing, which was won by Robert Thompson of Herndon, VA. Tune Man & Trimmer Tim began the shearing and was replaced by professional barber and Bluegrasser Dick Beckley, who before retirement owned & operated Gentlemen's Choice Barbers in Pennsylvania.

As of the beginning of October, 2013, John Miller still has a few months of recovery before he can work again. Anyone who would like to donate, checks in John's name can be sent to the address below. Please specify "John Miller Fund" in the memo section of your check.
