Jeannie Ortega is a natural. A captivating Singer, Songwriter, and Actress. While attending Brooklyn High School of the Performing Arts, Ortega had her first real recording "Got What It Takes" placed on the soundtrack to the 2003 teen romantic comedy, Love Don't Cost a Thing. Jeannie then signed a major recording deal with Hollywood Records, the Disney subsidiary that released the film soundtrack.
Jeannie spent several years on the tween-pop Radio Disney circuit of radio interviews, live mall shows, and other promotional activities as she recorded her debut album, No Place Like Brooklyn. Ever so eager to share her talents, Ortega wrote 11 of the 12 songs on the album. Her first single, "Crowded," Co-written by Stargate and Jeannie and Produced by Stargate yielded a top 25 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. "Crowded" was heard by over 250 million people and was placed Gold on the radio airplay. She appeared on the ABC soap opera "One Life to Live" as herself, performing her hit song. Hollywood Records then followed up by releasing her debut album "No Place Like Brooklyn" (on August 1, 2006) which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
With top 40 success came opportunity, and Jeannie spent the summer of 2006 as the opening act for international pop star Rihanna on her nationwide tour. Immediately following that tour, Jeannie joined the "Lo Maximo de la Musica National Tour" along side Latino notables. In tandem with her budding pop music career, the multi-talented Ortega also began a second career as an actress, appearing in the teen romantic drama Step Up. She also landed her first major acting role alongside Tristan Wilds (Beverly Hills 90210) in the indie film "Indelible," scheduled for release next year.
In the fall of 2010, Jeannie was showcased on the number one Christian cable network, TBN. She shared her touching life story, and performed an original song called "Savior." After huge ratings, she secured a position as a T.V. Personality with the Christian cable network JCTV, a subsidiary of TBN.
Since signing a worldwide music publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing, Ortega has begun to garner acclaim as a talented Songwriter/Vocal Producer. Her new music EP called "New Day" gives you a good taste of her direction and what is to come from Jeannie. "New Day" is available on iTunes now.
