Jim Jones at Botany Bay: Inspired by The Hateful Eight - Video

---POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD---
A couple of nights ago I went to the movies and saw Tarantino's new baby “The Hateful 8“. The movie was great, of course, but what I liked even more was this haunting tune sung by Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Naturally, I later tried to find it, but realized there are, as of 18.01.2016, only 2 covers of the film's version on Youtube, apart from some truly amazing traditional versions. So here is my take.

You'll notice there are two additional verses in the song, apart from those Jennifer sings. They are the 6th and 8th, and I wrote them. I felt like importing a short dialogue John Ruth and Daisy share in the middle of the song(although a bit changed), and also felt like giving the song a proper conclusion, in accordance with the film's. I leave it to you as to how well I succeeded. So the whole song goes like this:

1. Listen for a moment lads and hear me tell my tale
How over the sea from England shore I was condemned to sail
The jury found me guilty sir and said the judge, said he
"For life, Jim Jones, I sentence you across the stormy sea

2. But take my tip before you ship to join the iron gang
Don't be too gay in Botany Bay or else you'll surely hang
Or else you'll surely hang," says he "And after that, Jim Jones
High up upon the gallows tree the crows will pick your bones"

3. You have no chance for mischief there, remember what I say,
They'll flog the poaching out of you out there in Botany Bay
The waves were high upon the sea, the winds were broaching gale
I’d rather drown in misery than come to New South Wales

4. The waves were high upon the sea when the pirates came along
The soldiers on our convict ship were full five hundred strong
They opened fire and somehow drove That pirate ship away
I’d rather join that pirate ship than come to Botany Bay

5. And one dark night when everything is quiet in the town
I'll kill you bastards one and all I'll gun the floggers down
Give the lord little a shock remember what I say
They'll yet regret they've sent Jim Jones in chains to Botany Bay

6. That's the one you used to sing when we were riding here
It's kind of pretty, have you got another verse, my dear?
Whatever you say John, she said, that I shall obey
For music time is over now, and soon you'll be my prey

7. Now day and night the irons clang and like poor galley slaves
Toil and toil, and when we die must fill dishonored graves
By and by I'll break my chains into the bush I'll go
And you’ll be dead behind me John when I get to Mexico

8. Thus paid his toll and died John Ruth, the hangman of the West
With a severed hand and piece of led shot right through his chest
But the one who killed him did not live to tell her merry tale
The sherif hung her by the neck and watched her face go pale.

P.S. - This is my first cover, so don’t be too harsh. :D
