The Gun Club - Jack On Fire (Live on Madrid TV, Spain, 1985) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 07, 2012
Pioneers of roots based punk rock, The Gun Club came spitting and screaming out of the LA rock scene in 1980. Fronted by powerhouse banshee Jeffrey Lee Pierce they predated the Alt Country phenomenon by two decades yet their influence on those bands is undeniable. Needless to say, like so many pioneering US punk rock bands (The Ramones, The Stooges, New York Dolls, Suicide et al.) The Gun Club never really received the recognition they deserved. Fortunately they were prolific writers and performers and left a substantial legacy of live and studio recordings and video footage.

The Madrid show is a rare live TV appearance during 1985, which includes an interview with the band. Once again it's an unapologetically wild affair and a savage testament to the all too often overlooked rock n roll genius that was Jeffrey Lee Pierce. Pure unadulterated sex beat!
