Well, here is a man who knows music, sound, tone, color and dynamics from the inside out as well as anyone in the business and now he's using that knowledge and skill for his own artistic purpose. And, with beautiful result. These songs are very nice to listen to. But, considering the history and experience of Mr. Manning's experience in the sound rooms, behind the boards and the mixing machines with multi-platinum selling artists and world number one albums to his credit as engineer, I have been in awe of the complexity of sounds inside what seem to be simple songs. I hear sounds of the late '50s, then Abbey Road, then Harry Nilsson, Pet Sounds, Memphis Horns, Stax Records, and many others (I wonder what he could have done with Harry Nilsson in the studio?). I have only been through this a couple of times without headphones, but, I am looking forward to some quality time alone when I can. This music is a refreshing break from the monotonous drone of what's being piped out of most speakers today, do yourself a favor!
