A week ago, Jessica Care Moore performed at the historic Apollo Theater
for her 20th Anniversary of winning the Amateur Night "It's Showtime at the Apollo" on national television .. with a poem :D

she presented her powerful poetry & won the show's competition a record-breaking five times in a row :D

this is her "Black Statue of Liberty" mixed with “The People United Will Never Be Defeated”
- from Charlie Haden's AND Carla Bley's "The Ballad of the Fallen" recorded in 1982 and released in 1983 on ECM Records,
the follow-up to their 1969 "Liberation Music Orchestra" with Don Cherry, Michael Mantler, Paul Motian, Dewey Redman & six new members -
which is based on the song originally composed by Sergio Ortega and the text written by Quilapayún
“El Pueblo Unido Jamás Será Vencido!”, the song was initially composed as an anthem
for the popular unity government, reflecting the spirit behind the mass mobilization
of working-class people who in 1970 had elected Salvador Allende for the socialist
transformation of Chile. During Allende's campaign "El pueblo unido jamás será vencido" was a frequent slogan...

After the U.S.-backed September 11, 1973 Chilean coup the song became the anthem
of the Chilean resistance against the Pinochet regime, both within Chile
and among the community of Chilean exiles and their political allies abroad.
