DESCRIPTION:
This piece, composed by Frank Horvat, as a testament to the terrible event that tore through the heart of the town of Lac-Megantic and cast a looming sad shadow across North America. The piece, in five parts, chronicles the event beginning with the train leaving Montreal on its way across the Province. The train pulls in for a rest and a small fire begins, it is quickly extinguished. Soon after, the empty train slowly begins to roll down the ten kilometre slope leading to Lac-Megantic. As it approaches the beautiful little town it begins moving faster and faster. Then, there is the terrible explosion and fire that overwhelms the community. The composition ends on a theme of hope and healing.
