Described as a Dub/Funk Post-punk extravaganza, Sock Hop Arousal's influences fuse the deep 70's dub of King Tubby, Lee Perry with the angular funk attack of Gang of Four, Pop Group and the moody atmospherics of Bristol trip hop. Rather than imitate post-punk predecessors, the unique and compelling groove is established by exploring the rich unmined veins of dub, funk and jazz. In the tradition of roots reggae and 70's punk the lyrics are expressions of struggle, resistance and transformation both personal and political.

Sock Hop Arousal recorded a seven song EP entitled Bonobo-A-Go-Go

prior to ever playing live. Numerous live shows over the past two years and the band’s sound has evolved into a passionate and powerful sonic exploration of possibility. Evidence of this sound can be heard on the new 8 song CD Revolution of Hope, the vision remains and is expanded into new terrains.

Sock Hop Arousal is composed of powerful rhythm section Adrian Stickland (drums) and Chris Dowling (bass) known locally as the Sly and Robbie of Guelph Ontario. Tania Siwick’s soulful and evocative vocals contrast and compliment the heavy rhythms and syncopated bass lines. David Wilke’s keyboards add melodic intrigue, harmonic depth and atmospheric richness. Together this powerful ensemble is engaging all those who hear them.

The band has been playing venues throughout southern Ontario, reaching out into the world in ever widening circles gathering momentum and fans. Sock Hop Arousal represents a new creative force on the Canadian and International music scene and
