This piece comes from the 2008 album 'On Salisbury Plain' by William Rhys Meek (1963- ). The composer is also a naturalist and ecologist, and in both this and his 'A Fenland Journey' albums, the composer has drawn on his expert knowledge of natural history to create musical portraits of the wildlife and botanical landscapes where he has spent time living and working. Thymus and Sanguisorba are types of perennial herbs, known in English as thyme and burnet (eg, common thyme, salad burnet).
