I can tell you very little indeed about the Polish composer Stanisław Chomętowski (or Chomentowski) except that he published a few piano pieces from the late 1870s through the 1890s - and the plate number of this work indicates that it was probably published in the late 1890s. The set's title is hard to translate into English - 'sincere reflections' is the best I can come with. The composer dedicated the set to the departed spirit (the Roman 'manes') of Chopin, and this is undoubtedly the most elegiac piece in the set.
