What an amazing tune from the amazing Saltfishforty.Totally brilliant. This tune is on their new CD called Netherbow.
When the Svecia, a ship filled with cargo worth around £250,000 - the equivalent of millions today - was shipwrecked off North Ronaldsay in 1740 it resulted in Orkney-based Murdoch McKenzie's pioneering chart, the first to map depths and dangerous areas off the coast of Britain. This included North Ronaldsay's 'reefdyke' - a notorious shipwreck hotspot. Douglas Montgomery,fiddle, Brian Cromarty, mandolin.Also part of the Orkney band, The Chair.
