Paddyrasta

Brian Gilligan and The Paddyrasta Revolution play a fresh, original blend of reggae and traditional Celtic melodies inter-weaved with heartfelt, socially concious lyrics.



Formely known as Paddyrasta they have appeared live on BBC Celtic Connections in February performing 3 songs from their debut album Listen To Your Heart - currently available worldwide and on itunes,spotify, amazon etc. New Album to be released early 2011 titled "Better To Light A Candle Than Curse The Darkness". They have received airplay on national radio in both the UK and US with their St Patricks Day single release of a reggae version of Molly Malone being championed by DJs on radio shows. They were voted best band on Talk Sport Radios Mike Mendoza Show and tracks from their album are regularly played on BBC Scotland and the reggae station Big-Up Radio. They have toured all over the UK and Ireland, Holland, Belgium and Scandanavia. The band are now based in Barcelona, Spain.

The band has played numerous festivals and toured the Netherlands, Belgium and Scandanavia as well as around the UK and Ireland. They have also played at the UEFA CUP FINAL Glasgow 2007,Tartan Heart Festival, Labadoux, Knockengorroch World Ceilidh, Glasgow Maydaze, Mjus Festival (Faroe Islands) and Gig n The Bann (Ireland). They have supported the Jamaican band The Skatalites and The Legendary Shack Shakers and were recently asked to open for Shane McGowan of The Pogues.
