DESCRIPTION:
Alcon Ireland commissioned AV3 to produce a DVD detailing the production process from start to finish. The DVD production is used by their sales team and is also shown to visitors to the Cork plant.

Located in Cork, in Southern Ireland, Alcon's manufacturing facility employs approximately 200 people focused on delivering the world's leading intraocular lenses (IOLs), AcrySof®, to various countries around the globe. Alcon's AcrySof® lenses are implanted in 6 out of 10 cataract patients worldwide.

Alcon Ireland is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, illustrating the focus in Cork on high quality manufacturing. Each of the more than one million lenses manufactured there undergoes 77 different quality inspections to ensure a consistent high quality product every time. Man, machine and material are traced for every lens produced at the plant. This means every single lens they produce is traceable for at least 30 years. Furthermore, the final two-thirds of the production and inspection of each lens is conducted in a class 10,000 clean room to ensure the lens is ultra-clean even prior to sterilization.
Because the implantable products manufactured in Cork are very important, so are the dedicated and highly qualified people who manufacture them. All employees undergo rigorous training before working with the product. An ongoing investment in employee training and development at the Cork facility ensures that Alcon's employees strive to continuously improve upon their manufacturing excellence.
