PUBLISHED:  Jul 24, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
The Twoks playing a cover of Queen's 'Somebody To Love" with some help from the audience at Pure Pop records, St Kilda, Melbourne during their July 2012 residency. *&#
The Twoks, a Melbourne based group, consist of Xani Kolac on electric violin, live loop & vocals and Mark Leahy on drums & vocals.
It is amazing the sounds these two inventive talents can produce from no more than an electric violin, live loop and drums. A twinkling desire to have fun blended with formal musical training (Xani has a Masters in Music Performance ) make their live performances an uplifting delight. They are very special - dont miss them!

Reviews of The Twoks:
"."Drawing you in, Xani loops and overlays her violin, layer upon layer, swaying back and forth like a mad sorceress .. till she's practically levitating in a rich wall of sound around her ... and Mark's drums anchor it in weighted reality, through hypnotic rhythm and articulate percussion."

"Kolac wastes no time showing the impressive array of sounds she can make using but a violin and loop pedals .. tapping a beat on the instrument's body, finger plucking the strings, and even playing it across her torso like a ukulele. Jimmy Page may have taken a violin bow to a guitar, but Kolac makes abundantly clear just how much can be done with a humble fiddle."
