The Amigos celebrate the great adventure of American music. From New York to Nashville, from the Blue Ridge Mountains to San Francisco, we search for the heart of American song—the musicians and mentors with whom we collaborate and from whom learn. Over the past three years, we've toured the country, introduced new Amigos into our ensemble sound, and established ourselves as a strong voice in the New York music scene. Now we feel like our music has finally reached the point at which we are ready to commit to our biggest artistic challenge yet.

Our debut full-length album, a journey through the American musical landscape, will present fresh takes on traditional songs alongside new original material drawing on the legacy of great American music. This project will be guided by the wisdom and artistic contributions of legendary musician, composer, and author David Amram.

A friend and collaborator of artists like Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Jack Kerouac, and Pete Seeger, David Amram stands at the important juncture between the jazz, beat, folk and classical worlds. His lifetime of collaboration and exuberant energy is a great inspiration to the Amigos. We will be appearing with Mr. Amram at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and New York's Lincoln Center in the second half of 2013. Our hope is that this album will be a testament to the endurance of American music—bringing generations together to create something beautiful and lasting.

Along with Mr. Amram, we will work with the fantastic producer/engineer Devin Greenwood (The Sweetback Sisters, Norah Jones, Langhorne Slim, Amos Lee, Steve Reich, Sufjan Stevens) to produce the record at his studio, The Honey Jar, in Brooklyn. Mr. Greenwood's phenomenal resumé, his knack for sculpting beautiful soundscapes, and his patient, encouraging style made him the unanimous choice for producer/engineer.

WHAT WE NEED:

Crafting a creative, well-rounded, and great sounding album takes thoughtful preparation, talented and compatible musicians, plenty of time for experimentation, state-of-the-art technology, skillful engineers and producers, and a good deal of money.

To properly prepare, record, mix, and produce this album we will need to raise $7500. Any additional funding received in excess of this amount will be 100% incorporated into print and radio marketing of the album.

We have set a deadline of September 4th to ensure that we get the funds necessary to complete the project.

WHAT YOU GET:
Thank you again for your interest in our artistic vision and for your dedication to keeping the arts alive and well.

In addition to our sincere gratitude for your above-and-beyond support, we have created several levels of rewards for your contributions, ranging from a pre-ordered hard copy of the CD to a personal Amigos House Concert. We've limited the number of levels of support so that you can be sure you will be getting something of value in return for your support.
