BULLHORN

Players/Sounds Album Tour

Officially releasing their second LP Player/Sounds with a fourth and final single, ‘Rock Fort Rock’, Brisbane party starters BULLHORN are heading out to herald summer on a huge East Coast tour, as well as premiering a brand new clip for first single ‘Resonate Right’ — the perfect visual representation of the good times and happy vibes that BULLHORN are renowned for bringing to the main stages they frequent.

‘Rock Fort Rock’ — an homage to the Rockfort Rock rhythm previously immortalised by legendary Jamaican ska band The The Skatalites — has been reimagined in a way only dynamic new wave brass band BULLHORN could handle, with their trademark West End reggae-hip hop signature style injected into lyric and verse by BULLHORN frontman Roman MC and special guest, the inimitable Kazman from fellow genre-movers and Brisbane royals Dubmarine.

An acoustic force of nature with a lineup including seven horn players, one drummer and one monster MC, and a sound born from a mix of funk, soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae and dance music, the combination of BULLHORN’s high energy shows, brilliant musicians and remarkable musical arrangements never fails to inspire and get the audiences moving on the dance floor. Formed in 2011 and rapidly establishing themselves as a tight, well organised group, with catchy grooves and an upbeat sound, new album Players/Sounds flies that flag with no exception.

The namesakes of the album ‘Players’ and ‘Sounds’ — coupled on the album to represent 1st and 2nd movements — are an instrumental work that showcases the band behind the man; an introspective look at the extensive possibilities of BULLHORN’s unusual line up, exploring all the talents of the band’s many members. First single ‘Resonate Right’ — showcased in BULLHORN’s new music video — is an upbeat, good time soul track with an irresistible hook that’s all about finding happiness within yourself, featuring Roman MC and Brisbane musical gadabout-genius Laneous, who also guests on second single ‘Roll Off The Top’, a catchy hard-hitting hip hop tune with an infectious groove.

Changing it up again for third single, ‘So You Think’, [produced by Brisbane rock stalwart Skritch who has performed with acts such as Beasts of Bourbon, Tex Perkins’ Dark Horses, Mary Trembles, Gota Cola, and Broken Head as well as producing some of the hottest new sounds such as Inland Sea, HITS and Los Huevos] BULLHORN honoured classic drum & bass and jungle genres; the combination of Roman MC’s deep thought-provoking rhymes, the smooth blend of seven horns, and the energetic live drum & bass rhythms creates something inspiring and exhilarating. This track showcases perfectly BULLHORN’s merging of the old with the new, organic instrumentation with the concepts of electronic music.

The eclectic, yet beautifully fluent, eleven track Players/Sounds includes a diverse mix of genres from hip hop, funk, soul, reggae, jazz and drum & bass, perfectly capturing the band’s aberrant but distinctive sound: fans have little to no chance of successfully standing still when this powerhouse hit the road during September, October and November on the official Players/Sounds tour.
