Katri Ylander became famous from the 2005 Finnish Idol competition. On the spring of 2006 Katri was preparing for the debut album at three different studios. There were four different people affecting to the result of the album; the famous duo Jukka Backlund and Aku Sinivalo, Jukka Immonen and Patric Sarin. Composings and lyrics were given to the album by different Finnish composers, for example Anssi Kela, Stella and Lasse "Lemonator" Kurki, who wrote one of the biggest hits on the album: "Mansikkamäki". Sensitive, emotional yet powerful album was finally released June 14th 2006. At the first releasing week the album went to number 3. on the Finnish Album List. "Onko vielä aikaa?"- single went straight to Radio top 20 list as number 1. The album was on top 5. for the whole of June and July. In November 2006 the album had sold for over 15.000 pcs and Katri was amazed and happy to receive the gold record for it. In 2007 Katri was nominated at the Finnish Emma-Awards as "Female artist of the year" and "Debut album of the year" categories. At the Nordic NRJ-Radio Awards Katri was nominated and awarded as "The Finnish female artist of the year" as well as Suosikki- magazines Grand Prix- voting. By the lead of producer / musician Riku Mattila the second album began to lift it's head up in spring 2007. The last recordings for the second album were made in August 2007. "Kaikki nämä sanat" was also partly produced again by the familiar duet of Jukka Backlund and Aku Sinivalo. "Kaikki nämä sanat" was a step forward of the shy and insecure girl to a female artist with a twist more personality at some of the songs lyrics, as she started the co-operation with writer Inka Nousiainen. It was also a leap forward in finding the closest style as an artist for Katri. "Kaikki nämä sanat" also sold gold, and Katri and her band had a lot of places in Finland to tour around, through the next year. After a little longer break there was a plan of a third album, which started to build up by songs partly coming from the same composers as before, but also as a new twist, a few songs from the tourbands guitarist (Matti), in co-operation with Katri as figouring the melodies out with him. Also this time the lyrics were completely arrenged between Inka Nousiainen and Katri, which began during the making of the second album. Tens of rehearsals were arrenged with the band, and tens of demo tapes were recorded after the direction finally started to shape up. Slowly but bravely. The legendary Finnvox- studio sent out some positive smoke signs, as the producer Arto Tuunela took the lead with the third album, that is called "Valvojat". The first single released, "Maailman ihanin" was one of the radio stations hit songs in the summer of 2009. The album was released in September 2009. Right now the artist has been travelling around and thinking about some new and refreshing stuff!
