BIO:

Mira and Paula formed their duo in the fall 2002. Mira asked her old choir buddy Jori for help, and he came in as the producer for the girls. The first collaboration was Rusketusraidat, which turned out to be the megahit of the next summer. The complete album, Kuulkaas enot!, which sold 24000 copies, was released in September 2003. Two more singles, Niina and Kesä-95, were released for radio play. One additional single, Joutsenet, was later available on the shelves and on numerous compilations. As a live orchestra, PMMP is a tough and tight gang of five: Paula and Mira at the vocals, Juho Vehmanen on bass, Mikko Virta on guitar and Heikki Kytölä behind the drums. Juho is Paula's classmate from the Sibelius Academy, and the girls got acquainted with Heikki and Mikko through him. Guest musicians have also been spotted gigging with the band. Live PMMP was formed in the spring 2003. Therefore, PMMP is not a girl band.

Lyrics are solely Paula's and Mira's responsibility. The workload is balanced roughly between Jori playing, composing and producing, Mira arranging vocal harmonies, and Paula telling how to pronounce things and when. Jori serves instant coffee, Mira asks "when-now?" or "what's that ear-splitting frequency?" (=Paula's scream), Paula asks whether to use octave doubling again and what kind of a word "theseheres" is. Song structures and solutions get thought out together. In addition, the studio is a place for consuming music, the internet and packed lunch. Jori is Th!nk-!nk.

The band's second album was released 9.3. The clothes featured on both albums are courtesy of Candy&Gertrud, which is a company of Kikka Ailio and Nanda Björklund (that is, Mira's sister and her friend, hahaha). This website is made by Pekka Vesala (Paula's brother). The album includes 11 songs, of which Paula has co-composed one (Onni), Juho has co-arranged one (Salla tahtoo siivet), and there's even one with Heikki's and Juho's vocals (Matkalaulu)! Jori has participated in writing lyrics concerning one very crucial word (Oo siellä jossain mun) even if his name is not mentioned on the leaflet. (A castle in Helsinki was changed to another in Turku. We're not citizens of Helsinki after all.)

PMMP's veteran tour manager is Matti Kaunisvesi, who's Mira's friend from the Super Trouper days. Before the band had any gigs, Mira called Matti and invited him to listen to some songs. Matti picked Paula up from Nummela, drove to Turku, listened to four songs and announced he wanted to represent the girls. Selling gigs that is. Like Paula, he has lived in Pihtipudas! His company Popgee Oy is situated in Nummela. The band's training room is at Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki. The owner of EP sound service, Vesa Ojala, has been with us as a stage mixer (and on the PA side from time to time) faithfully from the start - so has Tomi Rintamäenpää in lighting, and other adorable hunks at EP. The girls feel bad doing a single gig without these technical boys from Pohjanmaa.

PMMP's gigs have been mixed by Janne Röning, Jukka Miettinen, Jaska Korkalainen, a couple of times by Vesa Ojala, Terttu Arnberg, Viljami Haapala and at the moment Kalle Miinala (Juappola). All handsome as hell.

PMMP got the Emma award for newcomers in 2003, has gigged like crazy, the first gig was at the Sörnäinen prison; the band has also played at the Kakola prison, the Kerava prison and again at the Sörnäinen prison.

The live material includes cover songs Säpinää from Maukka, Rotat from Päät, Mikkitelineestä on puolet minun from Ypö-Viis, Pikkuveli from Noitalinna Huraa!, a couple of hymns, and Maan korvessa kulkevi lapsosen tie.
