CARPARK NORTH – "Lost"
"It's all about getting lost. Creating magic and losing yourself in the music, the crowd. Almost forgetting you're alive. That's what Carpark North is about. Getting lost." – Lau (vocals, guitar).
Grand success on home soil, numerous prestigious awards and sold out arenas aside, Danish electro rock trio extraordinaire Carpark North are now ready to take on the rest of the world. Sony Music Svedala, with A&R:s Per Lindholm and Torbjörn Sten, signed a worldwide deal with Carpark North in December of 2009. The European launch starts with the release of the album "Lost" September 1.
Carpark North are the wuthering heights of epic electronic rock with heartache, raging riffs, gripping melodies and harmonies that won't leave you untouched.

Carpark North have an extremely high, international quality to their sound and tracks, both regarding production, melody and lyrics. They're a brilliant band and we see no limits to how far they can go, says Torbjörn Sten at Svedala, the label responsible for the creative side of the work with the band at Sony Music Sweden.

There's no given recipe for what lies behind the sonic waves created by Danish natives Lau Højen (vocals, guitar), Søren Balsner (bass, synth) and Morten Thorhauge (drums). Imagine your favorite rock band shacking up with Muse and Radiohead to have a baby nine months later. That baby would be Carpark North. Now, that's not what really happened. It all started in college. The band got together for their first rehearsal and it was a memorable one.

The first time Søren picked up the bass and played with me I was chocked. He found notes and ways into the music that I would've never thought about myself. Everything just fell into place. I've never had such an experience before, and I haven't had one since. Together with Morten, whose talent constantly surprises me to this day, we're home. It was like finding two soulmates, Lau continues.

It was during college that the band members met and Lau finally knew what to do with all the text and music he'd been writing for years. Now they write everything together, as a homogenous and democratic three-piece in the making of the phenomenal electro rock that is Carpark North, where "Carpark" symbolizes the scruffy, dirty rock and "North" is synonymous with northern lights.
During the fall of 2010 the album "Lost" will be released in Sweden. Later in 2010 the album is set to hit the streets in Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Austria and Norway.

We chose to name the album "Lost" because when we finish making a track, we always ask ourselves if we'd stop and listen if we heard it playing somewhere. Listening to great music that enables your mind to wander and get lost, to not remember where you are, that's huge to us, says Lau.
