Female fronted new wave, indie, alternative.

Somewhere between the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O and Patti Smith there is the dazzling,charismatic Jane (JJ) Stanness, singer of KarmaDeva. With vibrant guitar sounds, driving bass and powerfully expressive vocals this band are comparable to the likes of White Lies, Florence and the machine, Blondie, Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Editors. In KāmaDeva's captivating music Post Punk meets new wave. A cool, unforgiving urgency combines with post punk though funkier than that usually dares to be to create the unique sound of KāmaDeva.

KD is fronted by the enigmatic and unpredictable JJ Stanness, whose prom dress and bunches sweetness, are streaked with a darkness betraying her former life as a mordantly satirical award winning scriptwriter.
Fans have likened her voice to Patti Smith and whilst they share a smokily compelling penetration, JJ reveals her individuality with seductive, soaring, and at times touchingly vulnerable vocals. KāmaDeva have exploded onto the UK scene, their powerful stage presence captivating audiences, drawing them into the excitement and dark poetic melancholy of their songs.This is a band with real depth and resonance, whose vivid and lyrical imagery of love, longing and redemption seduce your consciousness, hook you in and take up residence.

They've supported legendary acts such as Grace Jones, Supergrass, The Fall, The Damned, and also played alongside The Holloways, People in Planes, The Zutons, Super Furry Animals
