The Best Things is a song from my 2013 album Hello Halifax.

It's my 5th and possibly most popular album so far and features wonderful musicians - the UK's Eska (currently about to burst on the scene with her new album….look out for it here: www.eskaonline.com) and Andy Waterworth; Nova Scotia's Jennah Barry, Kev Corbett and trombone legend Ryan Veltmeyer.

Having been a troubadour, letting my songs lead me around the world I now live in Nova Scotia on the eastern coast of Canada where I continue to write and sing and am currently finishing my most ambitious album yet, produced by Joel Plaskett and Howard Bilerman.

The video for The Best Things was shot on location in Rome, Italy and was directed by a team of Italian film-makers -

I didn’t mean to steal it.

The lights on the dash' were so nice, you know,
the blue and red type and a read out for your speed.
It smelt of a woman's perfume –
and a packet of Lucky Strike were there just for me

It was as I looked in to the glove-box for a light
It was then I saw the little note saying “Good luck - enjoy the ride!”

It took a while to stop looking in the rear-view
and accept my gift and what I’d got.

It was hard to believe I deserved it.
Some nights I’d leave it –
engine running and unlocked
