Myspace Bio of Nine Times Bodyweight;

. .. .. Members of Vast and Memento galvanize to form Nine Times Bodyweight.

Justin Stewart Cotta, Steve Clark, Space and Lats signed with Columbia Records as Memento in 2002. The band made many loyal fans from 2 years of touring the United states, capping it off with a highly succesful Ozzfest tour. Memento also opened for Audioslave, Papa Roach,Stone Sour, Marilyn Manson, Seether, CKY, Trust Company and Shihad. The Australian quartet were Top 40 at active rock radio with "Nothing Sacred" and "Saviour". By virtue of an extremely passionate regional fan base, Memento surprised the industry by reaching number one in the US with it's acclaimed video for "Nothing Sacred".

50,000 records into a promising future, Memento went into hibernation.

"A splinter in your mind's eye, my phoenix rises to swoop"

After a self imposed exile, Space, Justin and Lats were encouraged by EMI to put another project together. This vision was fully realized with the addition of drummer Jeff Bowders. Casual jams became rehersals. Ideas became songs. A disbanded Memento became Nine Times Bodyweight.

"The ant is an extremely resourceful survivor, a 40 million year old species, capable of carrying nine times it's own weight"

Nine Times Bodyweight tracked 6 songs at EMI studios. The songs were mixed at the historic A&M Studios, which the band will be quick to remind you is the birthplace of Soundgarden's "Superunknown". The music is warm, melodic, expansive, powerful and progressive. The band refuses to be part of a retro movement or current trend. A wise man once said, if you glorify the past the future dries up.

"Looking forward to looking you in the eye"
