Ableton Gated Glitch Dub Effects on Hybrid Darbuka Drum Set - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 07, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
More drum sounds using Ableton Effects. I was originally trying to make my drums sound like 1980's drums with gated reverb etc, but they ended up a bit glitchy sounding too. The top set of buttons on my NanoKontrol are set to toggle and I use them to turn on effect racks on individual drum channels, or on group channels. For the gated sound I usually put something like Redux, frequency shifter, or corpus, after a reverb and a gate to shape the sound further. The glitch sounds are coming from a drum group insert with a rack that puts a Buffer override, ( the only non-Ableton plugin I used) on just the highs and mids and lets the low end through unaffected. Momentary buttons on bottom of nanoKontol, and some knobs, are used to turn up send effects on drum channels or group channels. Send effects are Grain delay, triplet or 1/8th delay (switchable with a button), resonator (control pitch with a knob), huge dub reverb,(with auto filter sync'd to 16th notes) and a different grain delay. The sound of just the dry drums can be heard at the end of the video. More info at:
