Irene Lamedica's biography

If you turn on the radio when night is falling and music is your trip, her voice will take you where youve never been before.

From Stevie Wonder to John Legend, from Curtis Mayfield to 50 cents, from Parliament to Snoop Dogg, Soulsista is the sacred and the profane living together, is culture and entertainment, is the representation of reality from a Hip Hop point of view, experienced with all the sensitivity and the refinement that Soul knew how to offer in his history and evolution. Innovative beats, powerful sounds, lot of style and vast sensuousness for a first class travel from New York to Kingston. Because, if the music is a luxury that you cant live without, what Irene offers you is food for your soul, for the body and the mind.

Yes indeed, because Soulsista is the nickname that Irene got for having been the first artist to take in Italy R&B playing it when it was something very unusual, when posse and first rap groups were seeing the light (i.e. Sangue Misto, Articolo 31, Radical Stuff). We are at the beginning of the 90, in the United States Hip Hop culture goes through one of his most important and creative moments and Irene gains experience singing live in Milans places, writing her first songs in Italian with the help of Steve Dub (producer, musician, arranger and dj), who from the first moment creates with her a production team . Thanks to the meeting with Saturnino and Lorenzo Cherubini (Jovanotti), Irene gets the possibility to record her first album, Dolce Intro. It is an innovative album for the Italian market, sweeping from R&B to Hip Hop to Dance-Hall. Appeared in 1997 for the independent label Soleluna, four singles are issued from this album: Mi piace (da Milano a Kingston), Ma lasciatemi stare, Si può fare e ricominciare and Portami fuori dal tempo, in collaboration with Neffa.

In the summer of 1998 Irene opens the tour of Lorenzo (lAlbero Tour) exhibiting herself live with her group, she sings before Warren G e Naughty By Nature and begins to work at her second album. During other important dates she is the star, like in the Vibe Party, where Irene has the honour and the privilege of exhibiting in front of the legendary Quincy Jones.

Times seem to be ripe and in 1999 Soulsista, her second album, is published.

Her first single, 7 giorni su 7, appears in three versions, one of whose has as guest artist Carmen Consoli playing guitar and is broadcasted by the most important Italian networks. The video is one of the most showed on MTV network. The success and the consent obtained with the first single take her on the scene at Sanremo Edizione 1999/2000, her performance and her style are welcomed by critics, who talk about her as one of the best personalities in the Festival and her second single, Quando lei non cè, become one of the bestsellers.

Then, during five years Irene doesnt record anything, instead she becomes mother of two female twins and devote herself to her broadcast, making of it a reference point for the fans of Soul, Hip-Hop, reggae and R&B.

In reality, also if she doesnt produce records, she goes on writing and singing and in 2005 with Steve she establishes TooDeep Records and has a comeback with Prendi e vai, to whom the Jamaican producer Don Corleon and New York MC Jabba cooperate.

Single Prendi e vai is enclosed in the compilation Summer Wind Collection whose circulation is 500.000 copies. This one represents the first step toward the third album.

EP Dal tramonto allalba parte 1, now selling, is a kind of first taste.

The complete album will come out, produced by Too Deep Records and distributed by Self, in the springtime of 2006.
