Wheaties Red Records: Play Time Tunes (record 1 of 2) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 12, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Wheaties issued these in 1958 as send-in premiums you could send for with a quarter and a Wheaties box top. I guess the idea was that the kids listened to the record that they cut out from the box, then decided to send it away for the album with the song that they heard on it. The albums consisted of two microgroove 78 rpm records, strange considering this was the late 50's! Nevertheless, virtually everyone I know that was a child then remembered the cereal box records. Wheaties issued these in 1958 as send-in premiums you could send for with a quarter and a Wheaties box top. General Mills certainly had a great idea with this promotional act! From what I can tell, these records drew from the Little Golden Records catalog.

For your convenience, I have provided the song selections along with their starting times.
#1 Roly Poly Man In The Moon (0:00)
#2 Sly Old Gentleman (1:27)
#3 Spacie The Runaway Robot (3:05)
#4 Kalamazoo to Timbuktu (4:48)
