Silent Planet - "Darkstrand (Hibakusha)" A BlankTV World Premiere!

Artist city, country: Los Angeles, California, USA

Artist Biography: We've noticed a trend where band biographies begin with prepositional phrases followed by grandiose promises of future success. While this isn't necessarily wrong, we don't feel like this sort of format represents us. Simply put, we are 6 guys who struggle to write music and tour around the world while finding a way to eat and pay car insurance bills - something that so many people have made possible thus far.

Our story involves crazy instances where grace was given to us by Jesus as we witnessed impossibilities become our reality. We've seen people be healed, lives being changed, and the incredible transformation that occurs when we learn how to be vulnerable and allow ourselves to be loved.

We believe that everyone has a story to tell, and if we could somehow know everyone's story there would be a lot less fighting and much more understanding. We'd like to hear your story sometime, (without an ulterior motive of judging or proselytizing) and we are hopeful that our stories may converge into each other - at least for some time.

Currently, we are finishing an album that tells stories from particular periods in history where marginalized women superseded socially imposed boundaries to remind us that it's the meek that will inherit the earth.

We will be in your city soon.

About The Video: As you may have noticed, this video is about the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by American military forces on August 6th and 9th, 1945.

We wanted this song to show some of the sights that our character, a young Japanese girl, would have seen in the aftermath of the disaster.
We want to pay respect to the victims of this tragedy and portray the confusion, chaos, and the deep need for healing the followed this tragedy - which we are strangely aware benefitted our families, churches, etc.

We believe that following the Gospel calls us to pay attention to the suffering of marginalized people - often pulling us across socio-political boundaries as we revisit our past.

And as always, this is a love song for You.

Song Lyrics: My hand, held to the glare of this burnt impasse
Yours, necessarily on the other side of some sickly meta-xis. You're stopped in stasis, matched with mine. I'll quantify time with meter, with rhyme to calculate a way to prove that you are alive.

Isolated, trapped between - a picture of you now stained on the street. Oh mother, teach me how to die. In your shadow I saw to a distant future. Your life was only a nominal fee. Singing the sound of silence, signaling the end. They took your life, mother, as a pretense to pretend. The hand that feeds us sat you down. Covered my eyes, thrusted the styli, retraced the timeline to call it suicide.

Will you wait for me?

Death was the chorus; our lives framed in refrain. Softly we sing notes better sung by our dead. I'd rather sleep and see you soon than die alone in the wake of this nuclear catastrophe. We were meant to create, you spoke us out of nothing. Out of the chaos we've caused, naked we came, shadows we leave.

Salt of the Earth: Preserve their songs; Light of the World: Burn out the shadows.

Infinite echoes of stifled screams - the abyss you've created will ever stare back into me.
