DESCRIPTION: The rhythmic, flowing movement of purple heather on the SCottish highlands and moors offers a musical vision here, which the poet Marguerite Wilkinson described as 'land of my kinsmen, far over the sea.' I felt this same thrill when I, too, saw the 'dark, dipping waves' of heather, which sang their way into this song when I visited the moors and highlands of Scotland, the land of some of my own kinsmen.
