DESCRIPTION:
This is a performance for Buchla Lightning and synthesizer from 1998. I am, in 2010, returning to my work with the Lightning, and find that this performance still stands the test of time.. MaxMSP was used to control the Lightning performance. Conceptually, the piece is based on the concept of the five elements, and so uses sampled sounds from wooden instruments to represent earth, metal instruments to represent fire, flute-like instruments to represent air, water drops to represent water and electronic sounds to represent space or counsciousness.
