Bio by She Rox All Female Bands:Luscious Jackson are a New York City based indie, dance, hip hop, alternative urban rock band that formed in 1991, quickly they gained attention for their diverse musical style that was not only innovated but an easy alternative to hair metal and grunge. The band released their first Ep in 1992 titled "In Search Of Manny" on the Beastie Boy's own label Grand Royale, and soon toured with them along with bands like Cypress Hill. 1992 would also see drummer Kate Schellenbach play with the Lunachicks for a tour along with being the Bestie Boys original drummer. By 1994 and releasing their debut full length album titled "Natural Ingredients" which contained several singles that gained heavy rotation on MTV and this opened the door to an even larger fan base indeed. By 1996 with the release of their next full length album "Fever in Fever Out" now signed to major label Capitol Records, this would be Luscious Jackson's highest selling material and the album would go gold with the main single "Naked Eye" hitting number 18 on Billboard's Modern Rock and #36 on Billboard's Top 40, throwing the band into the mainstream constant touring in support of Fever In Fever Out left keyboardist Vivian Trimble in need of a break and she left the band at the height of their run in 1998. By 1999 the remaining members continued on and recorded 1999's "Electric Honey" and even with heavy support of it's main single "Lady Fingers", Capitol Records were not happy that this album failed to reach the heights of its predecessor.the band called it's quits by 2000. In 2007 both Bassist Jill Cunniff and Guitarist Gabby Glaser would release solo albums and a "Greatest Hits" would be release same year of the bands best singles. By 2011 the band would reunite still as a trio, but playing live with session musicians some of which were men, the core members remain intact and have release two more full length albums in 2013, Baby Dj, and Magic Hour, and although the band admits to taking it slower now when it comes to touring and shows, this quintessential part of the 1990's music era is still going strong and earning a new legion of fans.
