Tusk Festival 2016 — Fovea Hex - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 21, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Clodagh Simonds formed her first band Mellow Candle at the age of 11, releasing their debut single Feelin’ High in 1968 at the age of 15. Their album Swaddling Songs made little impact anywhere outside Ireland until quarter of a century later when, as these things are wont to happen, belated Japanese interest grew in the band’s releases and people like Stephen Malkmus started covering their songs. Simonds was encouraged and early into this century began creating music under the name Fovea Hex, with contributors including Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Carter Burwell and others. Receptions for Fovea Hex’s cult folk emissions have been adoring amongst those who’ve heard them and a core began to form at the centre of her shifting ensemble, including Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound) and Michael Begg, who’ll both be part of the Fovea Hex quartet at TUSK. In March this year, Fovea Hex released the first part of their trilogy The Salt Garden. David Lynch is also a fan and we expect a fair few more will have succumbed by the end of the weekend at Sage.
