Some music critics have described musician Curt Jones’ music style as more R&B, soul, and funk with a little urban jazz flavor. However you define it, in Curt Jones III, fans will most definitely see this album as a “cornucopia cookbook” of some very entertaining music. In Curt’s “cookbook” funketeers will definitely hear a slight touch of funk because you can’t take it out of this former member of the 70s bands Slave and Aurra. You’ll hear some smooth guitar grooves as well as some hip-hop tones, as evidenced by singer Topaz, Curt’s son, collaborating on the track “You Stole My Heart”. And just when you think you’ve heard the entire music “cookbook” from the Curt Jones III album…along comes the new single “Can’t Stop”, which has the classic sounds reminisce of decades ago back when music was much more real than it is today! As Curt Jones, defines it himself, its “steppin” music…and that it is! Curt delivers on the vocals to this track and is accompanied by Monte Moir [formerly with Singer Morris Day] on Fender Rhodes piano and Bill Brady on bass guitar.
