DESCRIPTION:
Cliff Gallup was the guitarist in Gene Vincent's early Blue Caps, playing some of the coolest, jazziest rockabilly lines going. After the first album with Vincent, Gallup got fed up with touring and pretty much disappeared form the music scene. I found this record on eBay from years later (likely the mid- to late-60s, based on the age of Cliff's double-cutaway Gretsch guitar from the front cover). The LP features "Gallopin' Cliff Gallup" leading his own band, The Four C's, playing some jazzy instrumentals — including this instrumental of "Be-Bop-A-Lula." Even cooler, when I got the LP, it had been signed back in the day by the full band, including Cliff.
I don't have an easy way to digitize LPs, so this video, shot with a still camera, is the best I could do.
