Jonmark Stone is an old friend of Mickey Newbury's and played on some of his recordings. He wrote this song while Mickey (1940-2002) was still living. Mickey liked to kid Jonmark about the "poet looked his age" line. Some of the other "old friends" pictured in the video include Mickey's wife, Susan, along with Sammi Smith, Toni Jolene Clay, Ron Lyons, Roy Stamps, Meeks Booker, and Mickey's youngest daughter, Laura.
