CHRISTOPHER COLEMAN

"The band leave you with their music imprinted in your mind and the memory of their live show is something that you won't forget." - Little Boom Music, Grace Darling Hotel - May 2013.

Australian singer-songwriter Christopher Coleman captures an audience with his evocative folk narratives, crowd-silencing vocals, and a jovial rock 'n' roll showman performance. Coleman cites inspirations from Flanagan, Whitman, Lager, Winton, Ginsberg and Steinbeck, Kelly, Dylan, Cohen, Mumford, Martin, Bon Iver and Pacobell.
Christopher's tranquil vocal and warm acoustic sounds combine with varying dynamics provided by his 'Collective' who join him on stage to perform the well-woven storybook that is a Christopher Coleman Collective set. Coleman is an exhilarating live performer; whether festival, pub or house concert, an audience is charmed with sweet melodies, choir sing-a-longs and affable stories.

The Christopher Coleman Collective have established a profile in Australia over the past year that led to them being 'unearthed' by national radio broadcaster Triple J to perform at Falls Festival: Marion Bay. Upon selecting the band to perform on the main stage at Falls Festival Marion Bay in 2012, Triple J Unearthed music director Dave Ruby-Howe noted; "[Dandelion Flower] showed us all of the Collective's winning elements: a gift for imagery-filled storytelling, sung by a warm voice beyond [Christopher's] years, and nimble arrangements somewhere between home-spun folk and pub-ready rock."
Based in Tasmania, the Christopher Coleman Collective have toured to Melbourne and Adelaide and launched their EP 'Burnt Black Wood' earlier this year at the world renowned MONA: Museum of Old and New Art. They were listed by The Mercury Newspaper in their 'top 10 Tasmanian performers of 2012'.

Burnt Black Wood features lead tracks 'Dandelion Flower' and 'Sweet, Sweet Melody part 1 & 2' that has drawn the band attention from radio stations around Australia including Triple J, ABC Radio, Edge Radio, and Radio Adelaide.

Upon returning from a 25-date UK tour undertaken through June/July, Coleman will tour his new single around Australia during September in the lead up to the spring release of his debut album.

"During "Sailor's Love Song", he invited a member of the audience to do a country shuffle on a table top and another to bang the table so to form the drumming section of the song... The crowd joined in for the chorus, as directed by Coleman, creating a harmonic choir-like atmosphere of the most beautiful kind..." The AU Review.
