Που να σε κρύψω πικρή μου ψυχή;
Που να βρω ένα χέρι ζεστό, να πιαστώ;

Directed by Vasilis Georgiadis and based on a play by Alekos Galanos, the Red-light Districts (also known as the Red Lanterns) is the Greek Cinemas best movie (wikipedia); as its title suggests, the movie reflects snapshots from the daily life in Piraeus red-light districts that had been banned a few years before the movie was released (1963).
The legendary movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and entered into the 1964 Cannes Film Festival. The movie ends with this wonderful song interpreted by Catherine Helmi, one of the most fascinating Greek actresses.

Catherine Helmi, Love and the Red-light Districts

I was left alone!
The rain is about to start.
Where shall I hide you, oh my embittered soul?
Where shall I find a warm hand to hold?

The coastline became the receptacle of my agony!
Hence, it looks like my own dream.
And I look like birds whose nest was taken away by the north wind;
like birds scared by the street uproar.

Mmmmm mmmmm ..

The sun has fallen asleep! He is going to set early!
The shade became sour and heavy,
and the sleepless soul stays lonely
in the rain!

Oh my broken heart! Gather all the sadness of the world!
Joy is like a pigeon!
Joy is like a child that jumps high on a bough,
and never stretches his hand to you anymore.

The movie ends with Catherine Helmys lamentation.
