Billy Williams - I'll Get By (As Long As I Have You) (1958) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 15, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Charted at #87 on Billboard Hot 100 in July 1958. Billy's biggest hit was "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" and this recording uses the same gimmicks in arrangement. Billy also references his trademark "Oh Yeah!" which he used in his biggest hit. Original Billboard review: "Williams offers a rhythmic reading of the standard in the same arrangement style as his recent click, "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter". A good side with chick vocal group in the backing. Can move." Billboard rating: 78 out of 100.

This song also charted at #3 for Ruth Etting in 1929 (which I've posted), #18 for Aileen Stanley in 1929 (which I've posted), #12 for Nick Lucas in 1929, #1 for Harry James (vocal by Dick Haymes) in April 1944, #7 for the Ink Spots (#4 R&B) in May 1944, #12 for the Four King Sisters in April 1944, #19 (in the UK) for Connie Francis in November 1958, and #10 (in the UK) for Shirley Bassey in November 1961.

Written by Roy Turk & Fred E. Ahlert.

B-side is "It's Prayin' Time".
