Cerulean 12 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 04, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This is from a recital that I put together at The University of North Texas. Featured in the group were my UNT colleagues Brad Leali, Stefan Karlsson, Lynn Seaton, and Ed Soph.

The piece "Cerulean 12" was originally composed for my Big Band on the CD "Excalibur". As the title implies (or doesn't imply) it is a 12 bar blues based on a 12 tone row. It is atonal in nature, but gravitates to all of the blues "landmarks". I chose "Cerulean" because it is a shade of blue that sounds rather like a Sci-Fi location. And I love me some Sci-Fi!

It was a treat indeed to have this conversation with Brad while we both enjoyed the harmonic carpet that Stefan, Lynn, and Ed provided upon which to tread.

Hope you enjoy it!
