NOTE: Joe Loss ( Joshua Alexander Loss, 1909 --1990) was a British musician and founder of the Joe Loss Orchestra. Born to a Jewish 4-children family in London, he started violin lessons at the age of seven and later played violin at the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool and also with Oscar Rabin. The band he established in the late 1930s was one of the most successful swing orchestras of the big band era in London with hits including "In the Mood". They continued successful career through 50s and 60s. The Joe Loss Orchestra carries on to this day under the musical direction of Todd Miller, who was a vocalist with the band for 20 years prior to Loss's death.

The slideshow is devoted to memory of Bette Davis - one of the greatest actresses in history.
