"'Dark Garden' debuts in Cape"
Friday, March 5, 2004
By Kathryn Alfisi, Southeast Missourian

Cape Girardeau's Patrick Bond had no way of knowing that a trip to the video store last June would steer him into the world of film-making, but after he saw a sign posted at Hastings Books, Music and Video that said someone needed help on a screenplay, that's exactly what happened.

Bond soon got in contact with the sign's author, Leroy Grey. After he read and discussed Grey's script, Bond decided that he wanted to make a movie.

Less than a year later, Bond's movie is premiering.

The film will premiere at 7 p.m. with a showing at the University Center Ballroom at Southeast Missouri State University. There is a charge for tickets.

Bond, who doesn't have a background or any training in film, said he always wanted to get involved in that industry and had actually written a script while he lived in St. Louis, although a movie was never made from it.
